Hi Mary – I hope that you received my email. The Long Island Dahlia Society emailed me back and told me that they think the dahlia that you want the name of is “Zorro.” Hope this helps!

Oh, I just saw the ceiling of my dreams. My master bedroom has a deep tray ceiling and my dining room has a smaller tray in it. I have always wanted to emphasize the ceiling in the bedroom since it has the potential for a unique treatment. However, the days of ceiling painting are over for me. I’ve thought about applying the design to paper or fabric then having it installed like wallpaper. I’m a strong believer in “the ceiling is your fifth wall” methodology. It enhances a room so much even if you are using your regular paint or a different color from the room’s color scheme. I still remember the first time I painted a ceiling, while muttering “please let this work” during the first hour of painting. Once it was dry and I walked back into the room I was astounded! When friends saw the room after it was completed their reaction was exactly as I hoped it would be, lots of oh’s and ah’s etc.
Yet, invariably, it took a few minutes for most people to realize that the ceiling was the key to making the design coalesce. I would love to see more of your work. You are now on my list of favorite blogs.

Thank you so much Connie. I appreciate your wonderful comments. Ceilings are fantastic spaces to decorate and paint – I totally agree. You may want to try a few things that won’t kill your back or nech, though. Wallpaper, of course is one – or you could paint some clouds or a design (stencil, handpainting etc) on a canvas…and then have a wallpaper installer install it. Your designs, but their labor! Another idea would be Anaglypta paper, which is embossed (raised) paper. You can paint and antique it – I’ve even done rusted verdigris type finishes over them. That would look great – this way you do the work from below…and have an installer do the labor.

Just a few ideas. Please keep me posted.

Thanks again for your great comments,

      Linda

    Hi Linda!

I love your decorated range hood. Do you mind me asking what commercial hood that is?

    Thanks so much!

Hi Linda I really like the blue in the second picture with the star over the bed and crystal chandelier. Can you tell me the name and brand of that blue. Thank you so much!

Hi Adam…I don’t know what picture you are referring to. You asked the question in the “Portfolio” section – but I don’t have a corresponding picture of what you are talking about. If you can tell me where on the site you saw this pic – I could help you!

      Thanks,

      Linda
